ADA Program

The prestigious American Diabetes Association Education Recognition Certificate for a quality diabetes self-management education program was awarded to the Brockton Visiting Nurse Association. The ADA believes that the Brockton VNA’s program offers high-quality education that is an essential component of effective diabetes treatment.

“The process gives the professional staff at the Brockton VNA a national standard by which to measure the quality services they provide, and assure the consumer that he or she can expect high quality service” commented Norma Mello, Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) and coordinator of the Diabetes Education Program at Brockton VNA.

Education Recognition status is award for three years. According to the American Diabetes Association, more than 23 million children and adults in the United States have diabetes, and an estimated 7 million are undiagnosed. The life-threatening complications of diabetes are heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness, nerve disease and amputation.

“Our top priority is to ensure that those in our community affected by diabetes have the highest standard of care, programs and resources available to them,” commented Michele Wolfsberg, Vice President of Clinical Services at Brockton VNA.
